A spreadsheet-style template for documenting events, properties, and triggers before you wire up Google Tag Manager.

Before you write a single tag, write the plan. This template is the structure we use on every analytics engagement.

Why a tracking plan matters

Most GA4 implementations fail not because GTM is hard, but because nobody documented what should be measured before the implementation started. A tracking plan is the contract between marketing, product, and analytics.

What’s in the template

  • Events tab: every event with description, trigger, and parameters
  • Properties tab: user and event-scope properties with types and example values
  • Conversions tab: which events count as conversions and where they’re forwarded
  • Source-of-truth tab: which platforms own which metrics
